The Smart City Expo World Congress 2016 will be hold from 15th to 17th November in Barcelona, a global event in order to support the sustainable and technological development in our cities. More than 500 countries and 450 companies have assisted to this forum in the last edition.
The smart web platform of energy services EQUS will be submitted in this edition, which for the first time has merged energy efficient technologies with the most modern mathematical treatment systems (Big Data). It allows control and manage all the facilities remotely. EQUS is present in Spain and Latin American countries as Panama, Chile, Brazil and Mexico.

For the second consecutive year, EQUS has participated in the Panama GBC Sustainable Cities International Forum and Expo 2016 which was held from 6th to 8th July.
This forum convenes representatives from the public and private sector to educate on new trends and successful stories in the development of sustainable cities.
On July 7th, EQUS representatives presented the advantages of this platform implementation for the management and control of energy facilities. This presentation generated a great interest among the audience. Throughout the presentation, EQUS control and monitoring tools which were being used in an actual installation for obtaining and maintaining LEED certification were shown.
This forum has been organized by the Panama Green Building Council.
EQUS energy efficiency management platform has been presented at the International Fair Refriaméricas 2016 where more than 90 HVAC companies have exposed the most innovative systems.
Throughout the 2nd and 3rd of June many companies interested in EQUS visited our stand. Attendees were able to see first hand the functionalities that presents the platform for the efficient management of energy facilities, as well as facilities already operating with this system.
Refriaméricas 2016 International Fair, now in its tenth edition, presented this year’s record attendance , becoming one of the main events of the sector in Latin America. In this edition, more than 2000 people were those who were able to learn the latest trends in climate and sustainable building.
Last April, the prestigious scientific journal “Applied Energy” has published the article “A simple model for automatic analysis and diagnosis of environmental thermal comfort in energy efficient buildings”, where it presents ventilation systems and air-conditioning mathematical modelling based on the analysis of a low number of environmental variables. This study was done in cooperation among different research groups in Galician universities.
The energy management platform EQUS was used to development this study. Equs is a tool that allows the monitoring and control in the facilities, which has been designed under Big Data criteria.
Thanks to your own SCADA system (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), you can control the remote units and you can improve the data analysis for in order to do this study.
Within the conclusions contained in this article, it is remarkable that thanks to tools as complete as the EQUS platform, it is possible to have a considerable valuable information in order to understand and predict the environmental variable behaviour and the consumption with margins of error almost negligible.
The journal “Applied Energy” is specialized in I+D+i studies of energy and environmental sustainability areas.
EQUS continues with the cooperation of differents research groups for the development of news and innovative studies within energy efficiency, confirming the advantages that this tool offers against others presents in the market.
On 18th September 2015 the Conference Big Data in Energy was held in the Aula Magna in the Mathematics Faculty in Santiago de Compostela University, organised by the Red ITMATI.
EQUS was one of the companies invited to this conference which had the intention of exploring the phenomenon of Big Data in the energy sector with a dual objective:
- Detect the necessities of companies in the field of energy in relation with the treatment and analysis of large databases.
- Show the methodologies in the statistics and the operation research which could prove useful when addressing the problems associated with the phenomenon Big Data.
